Re: SIII on a Euro roadtrip: 35 countries and Nordschleife.

It looks like when you came back in to northern France from Belgium you decided you weren't quite ready to come home just yet so did a bit of a loop around Brittany before finally calling it a day! (Reminded of being a kid and my Dad shouting me in for tea/bed/etc so I'd sneak in another quick lap o...

What a fascinating story - and what a journey!

What was the motivation behind it?

Yeah, I will miss it Dodge. It's funny how you get attached to a lump of metal. That's why I like breaking a car for parts as I feel that some of it can live on that way!

Hello from my new SIII!

I wasn't sure where to post this but whilst I might not be new to the site my new car is! I picked up an 2009 SIII today from Dave ('wessieworld83') over at UKHCC: http://www.newtonnet.co.uk/permanent/CoupeSIII-1stday.jpg It's in great condition and has only done 39k miles so should last me a while!...

Re: Important dates In our forum history

Some more historical dates if it helps complete the 'roots': 20th June 2001 Xorro (Zoe) starts UKHCS Forum at ezboard (I joined later in the year - any other old timers from then still around?) 21st June 2002 UKHCC established by Richard734, Squire et al as a tangible 'club' component of the UKHCS F...

Do it like they did in the Great Escape with getting dirt out dug from the tunnels so noone notices... a few pages day by day.... (at 2 pages/day you'll be done by the summer of 2016 :icon-lol: )

Re: 03 - 08 complete service manual

I find this service manual more in depth than the newtonnet ones if any ones interested - oh and its 123mb! At first glance it looks exactly the same i.e. identical pages, but having looked deeper I notice it includes the 1.6L which the one I have doesn't. Body repair too but that looks like it's a...

Re: Fault codes and what they mean-sorted!!

I'd probably send it back for a replacement. You wouldn't expect a new sensor to be faulty but I suppose it could happen. Is it a genuine OEM part? (It should have a Hyundai part number on it)

Re: Fault codes and what they mean-sorted!!

Do you mean Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction? Is the replacement lambda sensor known to be good? The sensor only functions once its hot and so has a built-in heater to bring it up to speed before the engine has fully warmed up. If the ECU doesn't receive an adequate signal (oscillating between 0.1v...

Re: Fault codes and what they mean-sorted!!

A pre-cat exhaust leak could trigger a low voltage fault code because the input of air would cause the sensor to continuously read what it sees as a lean mixture (0.9v = rich, 0.1v = lean) yet it ought to be oscillating between the two. Given the propensity of such leaks it'd be where I'd be looking...

Re: Gen 1 Remote Locking

F2 Evo (Although guessing same as all other Gen1's maybe even Gen 2's. Feel free to correct those in the know. It's probably more likely to be similar to other Gen 1/2's as the Evo usually has a Cobra alarm fitted (it needed a non-standard alarm to achieve the insurance rating). At least as far as ...

I think I know where you mean. You mentioned '..where it goes down to the sill' though and that only occurs at the rear! ;)

Re: Rust behind the plastic seals & rear wheel arch

It'll look rough as you say, but there's nothing that sticks out beyond the extremeties of the existing bodywork. In fact the only thing there is a bracket/strip but that is tucked up right underneath the door, and the door itself sticks out beyond this.

Re: Rust behind the plastic seals & rear wheel arch

Kind of - I had to convert the screws from philips heads to slot with a Dremel so that I could get some purchase on them! It didn't take long and is probably easier the drilling. The thing is, the heat from this process may have partially melted the hole in the plastic clips so we'll have to see if ...

Re: Rust behind the plastic seals & rear wheel arch

I'm going to swap at least one of my sill covers soon and was looking at the clips from the old one - they're all the same (12 of them) on mine rather than two different types. They were all like this: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/HYUNDAI-TYPE-TRIM-CLIPS-X-10-EQV-TO-87758-35000-ACCENT-SANTA-FE-TIBURON-/00...

That's more like it.... Would be good to hear how you get on (and would be happy to combine an order if you think there are cost savings to be made). I've been searching for 'hyundai clips' on eBay and there are actually a fair few that come up, some of which might actually fit the bill for only a f...

2. Before you start buy the clips for the sills as you are unlikely to save the original clips i guarentee some will break due to age. I took one of the sills off my old Evo today and I thought I ought to correct this piece of advice... You said some will break due to age. Well, in my case, they al...

Mine was the old classic of jacking the rear up and whilst the jack was moving the car wasn't... It's funny because this was a week before the MOT... Ha ha, you and me both! It had done 170k and was still running sweet as anything and whilst I did try and look after it I did always wonder how it had aged so well as hardly anything was replaced over the years e.g. it was still on its original clutch! As much as I did look after it mechanically, I ...
