Hcoc history

20th June 2001
Xorro (Zoe) starts UKHCS Forum at ezboard

21st June 2002
UKHCC established by Richard734, Squire et al as a tangible 'club' component of the UKHCS Forum. Attempts were made to get sponsorship from Hyundai UK however they were not keen on going beyond provision of merchandise. Pipercross stepped in to provide seed funding though and my then-local dealer St George Hyundai in Bristol provided parts/servicing discounts to members.

February(ish) 2004
First official recognition of UKHCS/UKHCC by Hyundai UK in their in-house magazine

16th August 2005
UKHCS gains its 1000th member

22nd December 2005
UKHCS Forum moves to a self-hosted site due to rising ezboard (now Yuku) fees

December 23rd 2005
Dodge joins ukhcs

September 14th 2007
Dupe joins ukhcs

January 2009
UKHCC is still a section on ukhcs that's not used

Jul 1st 2009
Lidl sets up what will become UKHCC fed up of what he feels is lack of action at ukhcs

Sat Feb 6th 2010....
Xorro announces closure of uk Hyundai coupe site, ukhcs. There is much outcry and bad feelings, with established members trying in vain to buy it

7 th Feb 2010
Ukhcs implodes when Faz bans hutchy, Lidl ups his campaign and the mod room with incriminating comments appears (culprit Unknown ) lots of bad feeling follows . Ukhcs shuts its doors

Feb 8th 2010.....
Work begins on ukhcf, by Macker Faz and ZS and a new site comes into play, slightly too late as many ex ukhcs members have gone to UKHCC. Dupleman is a member on both

June2010
Dupleman is a moderator on UKHCC as the main site he uses (and is still highest posting member to this day-even though banned)

July 2012
This forum is practically dead. Rik and Mick are disheartened. Cazza and Cervantes are moderating and barely keeping it going along with dodge. Rik amd Mick are responsible for managing to keep things going. Faz has lost interest and Macker has gone

July 3rd 2012
Lidl sells out his share of UKHCC to autoguide and marks a continual spiral of downward. Dupe predicts bad times ahead but his concerns are dismissed.

August 2nd 2012
Dupe and Petrolhead Rob feel the urge to do a better job elsewhere where they are appreciated. Both agree UKHCC is not the place they can improve things . Both unhappy with buyout

August 10th 2012
Dupe throws an idea to Petrolhead Rob....

August 15th 2012
Dupe approaches Mick Doyle, Rik and Faz with an idea....

August 23rd 2012
Faz announces Dupe will come on board ukhcf.

Aug - Sept 2012
With ZS help, dupe introduces a raft of changes assisted by rob and coupe jay.

Aug- Sep 2012
Membership practically doubles and the forum returns to life, demonstrating many people are unhappy with UKHCC style since autoguide buy out

September 2012
Lidl kicks both Dupe and Rob off the UKHCC mod team

October 2012
The then mod team settles on Robs idea of "Hyundai coupe owners club".
Hcoc - hyundai Coupe owners club is born

April 2013
Dupe Is given half ownership by Faz

May 2014
Dupe and Racy Lady buy forum from Faz.

June 2014
We become the UK's first trademarked Hyundai coupe owners club

December 2015
Dodge remains the longest serving supervisor. We take control of Hyundai coupe owners club® Page on Facebook and we introduce more new groups including a comedy bad models page and sales pages

Early 2016
Up to 10 Hcoc members banned by ukhcc for mentioning this club including managers and supervisors

June 2016
Lexo allows us to use Hyundaicoupe.co.uk as an address. We place on it a shadow version of this site but in black.

July 2016
Hcoc sets up Hyundai coupe owners club - after dark a separate site but using same posts etc. The name is dupes idea to give a darker edge to the club. The idea proves unsuccessful

August 2016
Hyundai UK demands we stop using Hyundai logos via solicitors letter . We fight back looking for common ground. Peace returns

September 2016
We fully set up HYUNDAI COUPE OWNERS CLUB - after dark as it's own club. Smokebelch, Robbo and Shel take control as admin.

Because I questioned the sense of selling UKHCC to the Canadians . I was right. It killed the forum.
Lidl felt betrayed we were working here too (but he didn't bother how we felt when he sold us out).

He believed everybody loved his brand. He was wrong. Many people felt sold out and put their faith in me and rob. We were both very proud they did.

Not really. That's how it was. I loved ukhcs. So did everyone.none of it is negative that's just how it was. Zs can no doubt add a few more dates / events. I enjoyed my time on ukhcc at the time there is no doubt it was THE best forum superior in many ways to ukhcs. Lidl did a remarkable job of building it. Nothing is negative it's exactly how it was

I see no dirt slinging at all . Facts . People ask every week how this club started. If there was no ukhcf and no ukhcc Hcoc wouldn't exist in its current form. I'm proud of the people who kept this place going in its darkest days and proud of what it's become . I'm always getting asked how I'm the highest poster on ukhcc despite owning here. There is no negativity in it - I just wish autoguide would do something with ukhcc. Look back at the members from ukhcs - I'm talking tanners, motterams, Doyle's etc. Without their dedication to all the forums,we would be seriously lacking, even your bit counts beefy :laughing-rollingyellow:

:laughing-rollingyellow: I've got a question for you beefy saying as your feeling so unpatriotic today :laughing-rollingyellow: do you seriously believe for one minute we would be flying so high as now if Lidl was still the owner of cc? Not a chance he would have fought me tooth and nail. Everybody paints a picture but he wasn't scared to use dirty tactics behind the scenes which you never saw but I did. He's a clever man and nobody can knock his efforts ( but sams better). He sold ukhcc and I don't blame him but without his total dedication the place withered and died. If he took it back tomorrow I'd have something to worry on. If I needed someone to drag a forum from the bottom....I can't think of anyone better

I really just got fed up of the tone of your posts. I'm not saying this site is better or worse, I'm saying you don't need to belittle anyone that you've not agreed with in the past just to try and make yourself look good. That's how it's been coming across. The way you keep going back onto UKHCC just to count how many days a bot's been there etc comes across as a waste of time. No wonder your post count is so high :laughing-rollingyellow:

This is a great site, you and others obviously put a lot of effort into it and it shows. I just don't see the reason in bringing up these bad apples all the time. You can comment on how good this site is without having to remind people how you think you're doing a better job than anyone else. I just think some of the comments are unnecessary.

Maybe it's just me, then you have nothing to worry about. I just wouldn't want people being put off by any sort of atmosphere created by all these constant reminders of things that really don't matter any more. If you were a new member do you think it looks good to see posts that are just sour grapes?

Then why is he praising Lidl ? Your post makes no sense I was on UKHCS and I loved it. It's far better here than any of the other 'clubs' .
I see nothing negative and Dan and Dodge are both ex UKHCS members.
I can assure you it is just you as nobody else sees anything bad here. Just the truth .

There is neither a tone in my posts nor anyone being belittled. My post count is high because I was busy dealing with Eggcatcher whilst others couldn't be arsed. I was the one dealing with angry phone calls - first from an insulted Muslim and next from an insulted guy whom took offence to Eggcatchers comments. About a quarter of my posts are apologies about his insults!

I don't see any bad apples mentioned above. Who do you see above as a bad apple?
