Gen 1 / 2 Door CL actuator fail - Open door without damage RESOLVED

1. Window down completely
2. Carefully lift top lip of trim up slightly to allow to see 'down into door'
3. I used a strip of metal used for supporting brickwork as it's V strong & doesn't bend. (Pic attached)

4. Shine torch down into door & carefully slide metal strip down onto the actuator, specifically the lug which connects to the latch-lock.
5. push down on the lug, forcing it to 'give' a bit.. I 'twisted' the metal strip against the side of the actuator to move it..
[Only a slight movement is needed before the door handle can be operated to open the door. :)]

I did this recently on my Gen1 after reading many posts about how the door trim panel had to be cut..
(I didnt want to cut mine, so thought worth a try)
I have some photos on my PC somewhere of when I did it.. as soon as i find them I'll update this post.
Hope that helps someone to save their door trim panel.

I've not removed the actuator & have 'manual locking', so will photo again when I fit the new actuator if I cant find the old pics.
