Carlsberg-one of our newest members talks of expensive vandalism, being sporty and the joy of meets

Why the coupe?

Well I have only owned my coupe since july 2010. Originally I wanted a honda prelude 2.2 and never heard of a hyundai coupe before. It wasn't until my stepdad suggested to me about them, that i started to have a look for one. I did go and view a fair few but none of them were any good, it was when I saw the F2 that I fell in love

What other cars have you owned?

Well my first ever car was a fiat punto mk 2 in sky blue. I did modify it quite a lot. I did alloys, cat-back exhaust, full concept body kit including spoiler, tints all round and of course a nice sound system. I had it from brand new and only kept it 2 years due to having £4000 vandalism done to it. Next was a peugot 306 TD, which wasn't anything special and in the end a water pipe bursed and blew the engine. After that I had a ford escort 1.8 si but had to get rid of that due to a knocking noise coming from the engine. My coupe is the next one after that.

How long have you been on the forum scene?

I have only recently joined this forum in the last couple of days, originally i signed up for UKHCC back in 2010 and I am still a memeber on there.

You have only recently joined us.....are you enjoying it here?

I am enjoying my time so far on here and im very much looking forward to see what you guys have got in store for this forum.

Tell us something we don't know about you?

Well my name is michael, I am a joiner/carpenter by trade as well as a painter & decorator, so you could say I am a bit of a handyman.

What interests do you have?

When im not attending car meets, I play badminton twice a week, over the winter I play hockey for Droitwich in worcestshire, but a very big interest of mine is of course my car.

Your car?

Well started off standard back in July 2010 but as I will always have the modding bug in me, started to change the appearance and other bits. The mods so far include: f2 alloys sprayed in gun metal black, rear lights tinted, front lights tatlocked and angel eyes fitted, smoked side repeaters, indicators sprayed in gloss back with a thin line left to shine through, evo bumper, cat-back exhaust system, shark wing, f2 headrests by dupe, evo cams, SRI induction(but may go back to a CAI), boot build and 6x9s upgraded as well as headunit, dash and door cards sprayed in ford grey metalic, short shifter, gen 3 gear knob and blue door lenses. Also i have got but yet to fit is a 4-2-1 manifold and recently brought the gorilla vented front wings.

You've been spotted at a few meets.....do you enjoy that side?

The meets i have been to so far I have really enjoyed. Its been good to put faces to peoples cars. Modified Nationals this year was good apart from the weather and of course all the south west meets i have been to have really enjoyed.

You seem to be doing loads at your car....gen1 all the way or gen3 getting a future look in?

Well thats a very difficult question to ask as I love the gen 1. I love its curves and everything about it but if I did decide to change and go for a different model I would go for the gen 3.5.

Tell us a secret?

When i lived in cornwall I went to a gay bar. Only once and never again.

What bugs you?

Old aged people that can't drive on the road as well as some female drivers.

What next for your car?

To get either the manifold fitted with a 400 cell cat or get the gorilla vented wings painted and fitted.

Favourite meal?

Anything with prawns in or a large steak with chips.

Your big ambition?

To have a gen 1 for when i grow old.

Which forum member would you miss most?

Well seeing as I know Petrolhead Rob very well, I would probably miss him without sounding gay.

When will you sell your car?

Hopefully never or until I have to.

Where do you see yourself on the forums?

Giving advice to other memebers where I can and maybe arranging the odd meet here and there.

Where can we meet you?

Well I will be attending Castle Combe this month and any other meets in the south west that petrolhead rob organises, other than that of course there is modified nationls too and I can be found at Sharky's, when having work on my car. If you ever see me driving around the country somewhere, i will always wave back.

Huge thanks to mike for the interview, always a pleasure talking to him
