Howdy

Im Steve and im joining as my oldest son (28 and aspergers sufferer) has just bought a gen3 Coupe Auto and is excited about picking it up Monday. Looks a nice car in red and appears very straight. I will be doing all the oily bits so thought it prudent to join up.

I own an Rx8 and im a active user on the Uk Rx8 forum which is very helpful and friendly, im hoping and sure this will be the same on here ;)
Thanks

Steve

Welcome. I was looking at rx8s when I picked up my coupe, decided I want to learn a little more about the engines before I take the plunge, you can pick them up real cheap for what they are but I'd want to find a well maintained one.

I got mine with a 7k warranty replacement engine (not rebuilt), great car but very thirsty (18mpg) and needs lots of TLC. I used to have a black Gen3 coupe a few years back and wished I had bought the V6 as I found the 2.0 a bit lame to be honest but great looking car and my lad is made up to be getting one.
I reckon new discs/pads all round to start and possible offside rear caliper looking at the discs, appears I now have two sporty coupes to maintain :angry-banghead:

Hello mate you'll probably be glad you didn't buy a v6 what with engines dropping out right left and centre!
Look out guys it’s him that thinks he’s in charge!

Hi Steve,
another member to add to our country (Wales) different area to me but hey ho i don't have my coupe any more but funny enough when I got rid two years ago now I had RX8 fever, joined your forum after having the misfortune to join the USA one by mistake,
they seem to think there forum was a spelling test couldn't be doing with that crap, none of that nonsense on hear Faz co owner on hear will testify that, :icon-lol: but your UK forum was a lot better, my criteria was a one oner car 2006 or older because of the massive hike in road tax on the newer models, but fortunately for me I couldn't find one :happy-partydance: I don't do that much milage so was prepared for the massive fuel and oil bill but so glad I didn't find one as I purchased an Audi TT early Mk2 2.0 turbo similar performance but was gob smacked at the fuel consumption really good unless you flaw it :icon-biggrin: but the RX8 from my understanding is 18 mph whatever you do even in nurse mode :laughing-rollingyellow: coming back to the Hyundai though I loved every minute of mine and I am sure you son will love his :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Well we picked up the car this evening and even sold his focus today after a few hours on fleabay, damn I had forgotten how good these cars look. My old one was black but the red is stunning. The lad has a grin from ear to ear and im so pleased he has his first sporty head turner of a car
He is already planning new wheels to start and the new rear discs/pads are on the way (front ones not too bad), plenty of subtle modding to come I think and tomorrow my drive will have two great looking cars being washed on the drive an Rx8 and the Coupe :icon-biggrin:

Paul "nurse mode" in an Rx8 is a contradiction in terms, I drive it as its meant to be driven revving hard and with a huge grin on my face in particular on a good twisty B road :laughing-rollingyellow:
