New member in Fife.

I'm working on electornics projects which hook into ODB ports for power and for diagnostics. Found this place while searching for info on my cars electronics.

I have an '02 Gen 3

Yep, when I realised their was an activation process I thought "Aw man I'm never going to read the thread I need to" then bam it was activated... :-D

Projects sound interesting ;)
Yeah, I found out that on my particular coupe there is some hacking of cables required to get the OBD port working, so I'm hesitating on that a bit until I can understand the eletronics a bit more. As much as I trust the DIYers I don't cut cables that I don't fully understand :-)

Full project detail is....
  • Firstly Bluetooth to Blackberry connection with buttons to control music etc... for steering wheel buttons
  • LED speedo
  • OBD engine management tracking with:
    • Gear change indicator light (i.e... identifying the optimal time for gear changing)
    • 0-60 timer
    • GPS/Fuel economy tracking
  • Maybe and LCD screen to control/display some of this in addition to the specific lights/LEDs for various components
All of this will be controlled by an Arduino (or multiple linked arduinos) based circuit and powered from the OBD port, since I'm plugged in there for diagnostics anyway.
