Hello peeps

Hello fellow members.
I have just joined the Hyundai Coupe owners club.

I am this week taking delivery of a 2003 V6 Hyundai Coupe with just under 65k on the clock I bought this car from an insurance reclamation yard as a category X vehicle for £950. The car is undamaged and in very good condition throughout with one years MOT, the vendors have fitted a new reluctor ring to the front nearside as the ABS light was intermittent. I believe this is a common fault with these cars.

The only downside with this purchase is that there is no V5 or history with the car so I am taking a bit of a flyer with it. As soon as I have obtained the replacement V5 I intend to contact the previous owner to see if he can give me any information about it especially if the cam belt has ever been changed.

I bought my existing car a 2001 Honda Accord (ES) with 63k under it's belt from the same place four years ago for £795 and after replacing a damaged front wing and having the cam belt changed it has proved itself to be a good reliable car that last week passed it's fourth MOT in a row without a hitch. Again it had no V5 or history.

I know absolutely nothing about Hyundai Coupe's so I am hoping that by joining the club I can glean some useful information from the members.

My name is Tony and I live in Berkshire, I am retired and lets just say somewhat over seventy years old. I have been driving since 1957 and have owned over 40 cars including seven American cars (My great Love) I have never picked up so much as a parking ticket in all those years and my license is as clean as a whistle. I do however like a bit of "Grunt" in my cars hence this purchase of the Coupe. During my 56 years of motoring I have never paid more than £1200 for a car and have only broken down on the road once so I guess I have been pretty lucky.

So that's it guys and gal's. I would like to know how much I can expect to pay for a cam belt change if anyone can tell me. I usually do all my own maintenance but I did one once on my sons car and vowed never to do it again!

Regards to all-----Tony

Most important thing with the V6 is frequent oil and filter changes ( 10w/40 semi ) and OEM filter. My last cambelt change cost me £220

Mike
