Another coupe for me

#1

Post by neboboy »

HI all, I was on the forum a while back with a silver older coupe , but ive finially got my hands on a good coupe , you all know him as Mick Tuscani , I bought his pride and joy off him , also known as the marmite gen 3 .

Been friends with mick a long time and our cars where always parked near to each other at shows . always loved his coupe as it was so original so when he asked if i wanted to buy it off him i snapped it up , I dont plan to many changes to her may just tidy her up and get her back to show form , gonna put some sound carpet in the boot around the install and remove the seats for a good wash .

Also gonna drop up to an aul lad in Santry that does crash repairs and see how much it would be to spray the front bumper, back bumper and skirts to color match them to the car as theres a slight bit of difference, gonna buff up the bonnet today and remove the rear spoiler to clean it up , and then get it taxed tomorrow from date of sale . wheels will also take a lot of work to get them shiney again .

ok so got the car home Mick had to show me all the electrics as there where quite a few as you all know , this coupe has had a lot of work done on it , first things first was that carbon bonnet , it had gone all grimy and manky from sitting up for so long so 2 hours of hard graft with a buffer first then used the old brylcream gel the white one and rubbed it into the bonnet to get the oils back into the clear coat then another buff and then a polish with auto glym super polish resin and these are the results

Once I get the hole body buffed up ive a set of tires to go onto it and then get her tracked and balanced as steering wheels pulling a bit to the left she just needs new shoes , brakes are fine as are the discs , and I might send the wheels off to get professionally refurbed as they are a lovely wheel , next month im gonna drop up to a guy in santry as I said above and get a quote for the bumpers and skirts to be sprayed as the rest ot the paint it fine , gonna remove the rear spoiler to and sand down the brackets and respray them and probably replace all the bolts with new ones to make em look better, then ill move onto the engine and spruce her up a bit more ill keep everyone updated, also can anyone recommend good set of cheap lowering springs as the shocks are grand in this car but it needs to be dropped

Never heard of the Brylcream tip is thats because its carbon? :confusion-shrug: and with regard your headlights try drying them out with a hot air stripper or hairdryer and resealing them. I would imagine there leaking from Mick deambereing them, or if there a bit grubby inside take them apart and give them a spruce up and reseal, headlights for these are a bit like hens teeth not sure over with you in Ireland though but with yours you have nothing to loose by giving it a wirl

Im taking all stickers off it and getting it buffed up to see if there are any major scrapes or pin dents in it if not then all il need to get done is the bumpers and skirts which wouldn't be much money to get em exact color matching and fixed up , and then im gona take out the panels from the boot and either cover em in leather or in sound mats and then soft sub box carpet . but after the body work the next BIG thing is the wheels , the brake dust on em is bad but ive heard of a trick to use something called oven bright it has some ammonia in it and is used to descale and degrim ovens and seen some one use it before and wheels came up like new . Also yes on the brylcream if you have oxidation on your paint work the oil in the brylcream is great to bring it back to life even carbon fibre this bonnet had a clear coat which was dried out so brylcream and a rub down and then a polish and thats the result and it lasts,
