Hi my name is Eddie, and as of today I am the proud owner of a 2.0 SE coupe 2003. I am a retired mechanic, and have purchased the car as a project over the next couple of months, just really to remain active, something to do. The poor lad that sold the car to me, had taken it for an MOT, and it failed on 12 yes twelve faults, and 5 extra advisories. Now in all my years, I have never taken a car for an MOT which failed on anywhere near as many things. It also has a bit of rust to the rear wheel arches/wings, and I bet some hidden behind the sill covers. So all in all I have a few jobs to be getting on with. The car drives like new, one wouldn't think there is anything wrong with it. Excellent engine and automatic gearbox. Suspension and steering good. It has 96000 miles on it, and no service history, so if I hadn't come along, it probably would have been stripped for parts, which would be a crying shame. I have never before worked on a Hyundai so this will be something new, a learning curve. I intend keeping the car, once I have completed the work. It is bright red, and even the short distance I drove it, people do seem to take an interest in it. I would like to find out where to source a workshop manual, Haynes it appears didn't do one, so it will probably be a download, job or CD. Anyone who can point me in the right direction for this really appreciated, but I am sure I will find the info I need through the site. Again, I say, a big hello to one and all. Eddie

Hello & welcome to the club! You're definitely in the right place. Haynes didn't do a manual, but at home (working, boo) I have a bookmark for a cracking site with loads and loads of technical/electrical/ how-to stuff for the Coupe. No doubt someone will be along before I get back with a link.

Hi all and a massive thanks to all that have welcomed me. Thanks for the workshop manual I think links, haven't downloaded anything yet. I have to be in the right frame to do mind things, (I think it has something to do with age, or so I am reminded of constantly ).
I made another post regarding the rust to the back wings and wheel arches, basically saying I couldn't source repair panels for this from my normal sources. I was told that they are not available, so I started looking at front wings, haven't measured anything yet, but jut by looking, if reversed, off side put to the rear side, it looks that new front wings may be able to be cut down to make a good repair panel, the shape looks very similar, OK the vent would need plating, but I thing the arch ridge might just work. Has anyone else thought of this, or better still done the job in this way? Its just a thought at the moment. The rust I have already chemically treated, and sprayed oil where I can not get to, so should have slowed it down for the time being, and i can fill in the short term, so it doesn't look like a banger racing special, but I wont to do a permanent job. Also where on earth does the water get in from? Is it because the wheel arch inner covers don't fit that well, and actively hold moisture in contact with the steel? Would silicon sealing the plastic inner arch covers help, after I have welded? As I say only my first thoughts right now, so open to advice, positively invited. If a good solution is found, I was thinking of opening a new topic, and listing what and how I do the repair, to a finish. Don't you just hate it when reading other forums where people start a subject, but when it seems they are near a solution, they just stop posting. Well if I do start this topic, I will post until the job is finished. Thanks all once again. Eddie

Welcome Eddie, you've found a good place to join, I believe this car has one of the better car communities that can be found out there, glad you have taken it on for something to keep active on, I was ill recently (still recovering) but the coupe kept me active throughout my time off and it felt like a proper little journey.
