Hello - another SIII owner

Post by STEVE7C »

Steve here, from near Southampton. :greetings-waveyellow:

I've just discovered rust lifting the seal round the sunroof, and it looks like other people posting on this forum have had the same problem.

I'm hoping that I'll find a few suggestions to help me fix this without it getting too expensive !

However, a relatively minor niggle on a car that has performed faultlessly since purchase.

Simplest solution is a roof from a scrapyard, preferably one you can see before purchase. 4 bolts and you're done.

No Dougal! This one is small, but that one is far away. Small. FAR away!

What excellent and quick help and advice - thanks :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I've looked at Mr Tuscan's "Korean Tuscani Black Project" and it's certainly a simple task to repair. However, from what I've read elsewhere on the forums, even thorough repairs only seem last for a year or two before the rust re-appears. And then there's the issue of buying a seal at a reasonable price - I've seen them on Ebay, but......

The fundamental problem is that the metal isn't up to the job - and a repair won't change that.

As suggested, I'll contact the local breakers and make sure that I view before I buy. Once the old one is off I'll probably repair it as a backup.

Sounds like a plan - thanks.
