Wannabe Coupe Owner

Post by Telsun »

Hi guys :greetings-waveyellow:

Bored with my old Civic 1.6 Executive which is boring to look at and drive I've been looking at alternatives and the Hyundai Coupe Siii is where my attention has been drawn to. With it's great looks and big boot it seems to fit the bill. However most reviews state it's not the drivers car that it promises to be, so time will tell!

Hi mate, I went from a 1.7 EM2 Civic Coupe to a 2.0 Hyundai Couple and the Civic was definately more agile and lively in the engne department but I far prefer the Hyundai. To me the Hyundai Coupe is like driving a late 90's 2.0 Toyota Camry, even the switchgear is the same but thats not a criticism as they were good cars. The coupe looks fantastic and you feel special driving it but you will have to accept that it's not a sports car.

It would argue that the coupe is most definitely the drivers car. Its not a sports car per say but it is very much at home cruising and touring. Once you get her onto a twisty B road on a bright sunny day, sun roof open, windows down, music blaring, CAI hissing and cat-back growling I dare you to not be excited.

Oh and welcome to the club.

Welcome on board mate.

What Glen says is about right .... They're not a sports car (too slow and not gutsy enough) ... But they're a sporty feel... you get surprisingly good feedback through the pedals and steering.
Nice to have something without all the electronic driving aids as well so you're actually in charge !!

Welcome and I couldn't agree more with Glen and Snake - I love the handling on a windy road, sunroof open with my Terrible music blasting.

I also really like the fact it's lack all the modern driving aids! You are back in charge :)

And if you're in a 1.6 you can... okay, I admit, not punchy at all! :icon-lol:

Cheers for the welcome guys. I also have a 1990 MX5 which isn't particularly fast but handles like a dream. The coupe is to replace my everyday car although I often debate getting rid of them both and replacing with one car. Although I'm not considering buying it (cos it's way over priced and only a 1.6) I am going to look at an Siii today at a local garage to see what they're like inside. Looking forward to exploring the forum and seeing the potential of this car :handgestures-thumbupleft:
