Prospective Coupé-er

Post by Diseased Bunny »

Evening all,

I'm thinking of moving to the dark side, lol. Currently have THE most exciting car in the world, a 2l diesel Toyota Auris, :happy-partydance: so as you can see I need to get something a bit more interesting. This is what I'm looking at tomorrow, though I think the description may be a teeny bit wrong, unless Hyundai make auto boxes look like manual ones! Anyway if I get it I'm expecting first job will be cambelt change.

Good luck with the purchase, I must admit I am a fan of Toyotas as their reliability cannot be beat and have owned a good few but you do get fed up looking at grey plastic and the coupe certainly remedies that, the interior feels a lot more special than the Toyota.

looks good that coupe.

Agree on toyota reliability.
we have a P reg and a S reg corolla.
Not one mot have they failed in our ownership.

The P reg one is not even looked after it is work horse and drags a 6x4 trailer around collecting scrap metal.
It is green with moss in places and now pink rather than red.
but it will not die!
My father in law loves it.

The S reg one is also solid but few bit have now broken (bonnet cable and boot lock).
These parts main dealer only as no body scraps these things, they do not break!
So it is going to be sold once we given it a full mot.
It is to be replaced by a coupe!

:text-welcomewave: Looks nice :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Although as said it's an S11 not a TS11. The TS111 has lowered suspension / anthracite wheels / a high spoiler / exhaust differences and black quilted upholstery.

This might give you a bit of leverage on the price

Best of luck :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Welcome to the club

FOUR GRAND!!!!

Not sure I would pay that for an SIII, though it does look to be in great condition. It's MOT history is very clean (1 fail for parking brake back in 2013). Not sure on its service history though.

Good luck with the viewing

I was going to post the exact same that it seemed a bit on the steep side but then I checked the previous MOT's and it all added up and then I checked SIII's on Ebay with 25,000 to 50,000 miles on the clock and they were all £3,500 - £4000 and more dealer than private so I imagine some kind of warranty will be given for that price, you could possibly even haggle for the timing belt to be done or the price of the job discounted.

I paid 4k for mine with a similar mileage but that was 3 years ago now which is why I thought it should be less today.

Exactly, £4k three years ago is about right, now I would say £3k max for an SIII. This one does look to be a gem though especially if it has proper service history.

Looks like a nice car. Probably slightly overpriced by around £500-£700 but if I remember correctly u get a year warranty with lookers which is a good thing.
Also if you can get the belt done then that's a bonus.

Enjoy!
