I dunno if this is relevant here but when I got my gen 1 i thought the clutch was gone....bought a new one to find that the one in there was pretty much new it seems the problem was the slave cylinder full of crap so a quick clean later and no problems in the following 3 years - thats till the back end disintegrated

got told that as the cars had been lyin off the road for 4 months that the clutch might be stuck/sticking...but its deffo slipping big time likes...so getting replaced anyways lol
