SERVICE OFFERED Refurbished Brake Calipers Exchange Service

#1

Post by robbo » Mon Jun 30, 2014 8:18 pm

I'm going to start to offer refurbushed brake calipers to HCOC members, this will be run on an exchange basis. I'm essentially not charging for the calipers and carriers, the first set going out is a spare set i acquired and the price below covers the seal kits, pins etc. These will only be sold in pairs to avoid me ending up with a load of calipers all for one side.

How it works - I send you out a refurbed pair of calipers & carriers, once fitted you send me back your old ones so i can refurb them ready for the next member. IF AT ANY POINT A MEMBER DOESN'T RETURN THE OLD CALIPERS & CARRIERS THEN THIS SERVICE WILL STOP.

The cost for a refurbed pair of rear calipers + carriers is going to be £100 which includes me shipping them to you. All parts are original Hyundai parts to ensure correct fitting except the carrier to hub bolts as we change them to high tensile ones.

The cost for a refurbed pair of front calipers + carriers is going to be £100 which includes me shipping them to you. All parts are original Hyundai parts to ensure correct fitting.

*An additional REFUNDABLE deposit of £50 is also required, this will be refunded in full once your old calipers have been received *

Calipers: The calipers will be stripped & de-rusted/cleaned and de-greased, the piston will be removed and de-burred/cleaned. The calipers will come with the following:
New seals,
New bleed nipples + dust caps
New washers for the banjo bolt fitting.

Carriers: The carriers will be de-rusted/cleaned and de-greased, a drill is run inside the slider pin holes to remove dirt and rust. A tap is run through the threads for the carrier to hub bolts to remove dirt and rust. The carriers will come pre-built with the sliders in place and will have been pre-lubed with red rubber grease. They will also come with the following:
New high tensile carrier to hub bolts (rears only)
New rubber on the bottom slide pin
New slider pin dust covers.

All you have to do is paint and then fit them.

Current Stock: Updated 01-08-2014
1 x Pair of rears refurbished and ready to go
1 x pair of fronts refurbished and ready to go

With the set you have returned would you accept painted ones? I need to refurb and reliant my Calipers but this will be the easier option I think!

the rear calipers are the same, check your handbrake lever though to make sure it looks the same as these as i think there are a few out there with a slightly different fitment. It'll be a couple of weeks till the next set is ready. I did have an extra spare set so i could have 2 sets on the go but they were both well beyond repair

They look the same. Will check properly when I can whack the wheels off. Do you have a front set for a 3.5? I'd be interested in all 4 corners!

Hiya Dave I have 2 rear calipers that need refurbing I replaced these for new ones so if you want you can have them so you can do 2 sets at a time although I don't have spare carriers.

Great idea Dave :handgestures-thumbupleft: well done.

I've got quite a bad grinding noise coming from my back wheel one side of my new car, needs further investigation but I'd guess at a sticky caliper being the reason, so I might be needing this service from you in the future.

Great idea! :) I just hope it doesn't turn into the crap Mark was dealing with...
2012 Porsche Cayman R - the toy, the whip, the weapon.
2004 Honda S2000 - the daily, the workhorse, the fart cannon.

I'm not arguing with you; I'm telling you that you're wrong.

Put me down for the fronts as well mate probably next month's pay packet.

If I'm doing the backs I might as well do the fronts too as need to change the discs anyway

No worries, would you PM me a quick dummies guide to cleaning them? I have a rear one sticking, would be nice to free it rather than have to fork out for one from the scrappy
