Re: boot door release switch not working
Mine wasn't working when I bought the car. Sprayed WD40 into the switch in situ and left it overnight. It's worked ever since.Others have been successful too.Worth a punt !

Re: boot door release switch not working
The switch is notorious for packing up but just lately a few actuators have gone too
Look out guys it’s him that thinks he’s in charge!
Re: boot door release switch not working
cracking advise and I used the same trick last weekend and after a few sprays of wd into the switch then trying it about 30 times it suddenly worked so sprayed some more and it worked more often than not till now it works first time every time so am well pleasedlawre93 wrote:Mine wasn't working when I bought the car. Re: boot door release switch not working
While walking through an out door market in a sleepy town I saw a man selling WD40.
I asked the fine gentleman, "how much for your 400ml WD 40 with smart straw?"
His reply was"£3 English pounds"
I thrust a crisp £5 note into his hand, I received 4 x .50p coins and my WD40 in a complimentary ASDA carry bag.
Once home a few squirts with the smart straw in to my boot release catch.
30 seconds of operating my faulty switch, then hey presto the boot just popped right open!!!
1 hour later I return to my beloved couple and operated the boot release catch and the biggest smile appeared on my face.
The boot popped open.
Result!!!!
Thanks guys.

Re: GK - Boot door release switch not working
Bought this car just over a year ago. Boot switch never worked. Never thought much of it until I came across this thread.
So I thought, give it a go. WD40 down the back of the switch and a bit in the boot where the release is. Tried it a couple of hour later no luck. Left it overnight. Just tried it again now and BOOOOOOM!!!!!
works a treat. No longer shall I be held back by having to turn the car off to open the boot.

Don't leave the keys in the car unless the door is WIDE open. They have a habit of locking themselves

Re: Απ: GK - Boot door release switch not working
When i exit the car for a little bit, I always lower my window enough so that I can enter my hand to unlock in case it locks itself. Not just for the coupe, for every car I have owned or will own.Lexo wrote:Don't leave the keys in the car unless the door is WIDE open. They have a habit of locking themselves

Re: GK - Boot door release switch not working
Just in case it helps, I had an issue with my sun roof opening in stages instead of in one smooth motion, to fix this I pulled the unit out of the roof, stripped it down to the switch and then sanded off the contacts to clean them up, I got this idea off of someone on NewTib who had learnt this trick from what someone had done with the boot release switch, so yes this works but an alternative may be to pull the switch out and clean off the contacts ... Needless to say my sun roof works perfectly now.

In stages ?
hmmm, mine does this it has two stages but if you hold the button for more than a second it doses the whole roof, now seeing as my other halves coupe works in exactly the same way I have assumed this is normal, even the car I nearly bought before this one did it ?!?

Re: GK - Boot door release switch not working
I mean it stutters open, like now I can press the button and it opens up and shoots straight back, previously I would hold the button and it would stutter open (only way I can think to describe it)

Wow fantastic, this worked a treat for me also. That saves me from having to ask a garage to take a look at it.
Thanx
