Hello,
Found this place when trying to suss a problem with my central locking fob and aftermarket radio and decided to sign up as it looks like a good place
I've never owned a Hyundai before but always quite liked the look of the coupe, from the twin bugeyed model to the very latest ones. I use a motorbike for my 62 mile commute normally, but tend to use the family car through the winter months when there's too much snow/ice/grit around. I decided to have a look round for a relatively cheap car so I can leave the family car at home for the better half and our 15 month old daughter. I found this one just up the road from where we live and decided to go for it, after reading reviews and looking at a few cheaper (and very nasty) cars in the area.
So far, I am very impressed. Up to now, I have replaced the bonnet struts as they were shot, upgraded the headlights and fitted LED sidelights as they were both blown and don't fancy having to take the headlights out each time the little 501 bulbs blow. The air box lid wasn't sitting quite right so sorted that (although the snorty intake noise sounded quite good!) I've also fixed a small coolant leak as the hose wasn't seated properly - just needed a small adjustment of the clamp and all is good.
The car is in pretty good condition although it has had a very slight bump at the front end, leaving a shallow crease across the leading edge of the bonnet and a scratched headlight. I attacked the headlight lens with toothpaste and it's definitely improved. The alloys have minor kerbing on the outer edges but all in all, it's a very tidy car and goes well.
The only issue that's had my scratching my head is the aftermarket stereo. when I connected it, it worked perfectly and stored stations, etc. It was only when I had put the dash back together and tried to lock the car that I noticed the fob was no longer working. At first I thought maybe the digital aerial might have been the cause as i had the excess cable tucked under the dash, close to the central locking/alarm receiver. I pulled the cable out, after disconnecting the radio and the fob started to work again. I then put it all back together, re-routing the aerial lead and, as soon as i reconnected the stereo, it started playing up again. If i swap the red and yellow wires round, everything works as it should but the stereo has no memory (constant supply). For the time being, I have compromised with locking and unlocking with the key (central locking works fine) and having a fully functioning stereo
Anyway, here's a couple of pictures of the car...
