New coupe owner reporting in

#1

Post by TuscaniTim »

Hi everyone, I'm Tim from the Netherlands and I just bought a Hyundai Coupe GKII from 2002. It has seen some neglect from its previous owner (including cheap ali-express addons & amateur electric fixes using crown stones) but hopefully after I undo that it will be a reliable drive.Image

So far the car has 2 apparent problems because of which I talked 400€ of the asking price, as I suspected they are not major expensive things. 1 is the doors randomly unlock or lock multiple times after opening/closing the doors, which is quite annoying especially since the alarm goes of when I open the door when the car thinks its 'closed' but its not.

The second is there is an ticking sound independent of engine RPM with random intensity as if two billiard balls are ticking eachother from the front right of the car when driving slow especially noticable on not so smooth roads. The car also goes to the right if I let go of the wheel, suspect the front right shock mount is bad.

Welcome!

The door locking is the actuators, the actual locks that hold the door shut. Best to replace both, as it's impossible to know which is the problem one. Until you get it sorted, remove the door trims, because if it fails completely, the only way to get the door open is to cut the trim! Part no's 813152C000 and 813252C000, left and right doors, lots of South Korea sellers on Ebay for around £30-£40 each.
