If you ever want to Rev your engine from the engine bay, pull the cable opposed to the cradle.
I had my nice new turbo installation and wanted to video the Dump valve sound for the guys on here.....
I used the cradle to rev it up.... then the car started to rev higher and higher to about 5-6k, it kept revving at that for say 5 seconds.
What happened
The cruise control cable had jammed causing it to keep it revving... no good for the car especially turbo one.

Re: Engine bay Revving
Can you not just push down on the throttle spring mechanism thing instead? That way both cables go slack instead of being pushed back in to their respective housings.

Re: Engine bay Revving
The spring mechanism i assume is the cradle i was using, thing is, i didnt know the cruise control has jammed as it was such a small fraction, the cradle looked like it was all the way down as i pushed it all the way down....... when this failed i launched over my car to switch it off.
It took me best part of a few days to figure out why the car was revving as soon as i switched it on ill dig out the video

Re: Engine Revving
Here you go, all is well til it Jams, i push the cradle down thinking thats the reason and it just gets worse.
My car was parked between two houses, the space was ONLY big enough for the front of the car, with 2-3" eaither side of the car next to the wall, to get to around the car i need to walk through the house.
When this happened i launched over my car, the bonnet pole thingy was completly bent, stood on my window... almost went through it.

Re: Engine Revving
No matter what people say, this wasent enough to damage anything, iv seen it revved up by "mechanics" in idle far more aggressive than this
But it wasent fun jumping over the car
