the former ukhcc area rep gives us the lowdown

Why the coupe?

I was browsing in a second-hand car dealers, lingered for while at the Coupe thinking 'I love it - but I really should get a more 'sensible' car...' then my entire family - Mum, Dad, Brother, Sister, Nephew and 2 Nieces all said 'You should get that one, it really suits you'. That was enough, I gave in and bought it. Best decision I ever made.

What other cars have you owned?

1974 Beetle 1.6 (had it for 12 years - my first car after passing my test, lots of great memories (*cue misty eyes*),
1997 Fiat Punto 1.6 GLX ,
1995? Mazda 626,
1994 Honda Accord 2.3i SR
1996 Mitsubishi Colt 1.6Glxi
Various others too nondescript to remember…..

How long have you been n the forum scene?

Dabbled a few years ago (Accord and Colt ones) but only the last couple of years seriously.

Are you enjoying the new look site?

Have no idea what the ‘old look site’ was like…..

Tell us something we don't know about you?

I have a degree in Environmental Geology.

What interests do you have?

Rock climbing, rock climbing and errrr……rock climbing (yes, I am obsessed)
Walking/running with my dog, live music ranging from Glastonbury to a band in a pub, science (proud to be a geek), visiting art galleries, ……my car….

Your car(s)?
01 Blue Gen2 1.6s (off the road now)
00 Matt black Gen2 2.0l

Tell us a secret?

I used to work as a home tutor and I taught Joe Pasquale’s son (very briefly)

How did you find us?

Member recommended

What bugs you?

People who drive round corners really sloooooooooooowly. :icon_wink:

What's next for your car?

Wheels gloss black , a spoiler, tidy up the dodgy flaky paint (would like to Plastidip it eventually, when funds allow), various other bits and pieces being robbed from the blue one - bonnet, aerial, front bumper, possibly also the front lights and indicators……

Favourite meal?

Liver and bacon with mash and cauliflower cheese
Ham, egg and chips
Chicken Caesar salad

Your big ambition?

To climb something really challenging - the north face of the Eiger, or El Capitan in Yosemite

Which forum member would you miss most?

Would miss too many, can’t choose just one person.

When will you sell your car?

I won’t. How very dare you suggest such a thing! Lol. After the blue car has finished donating bits and pieces I’d like to see her go to a good home rather than the scrap yard, so I hope someone will want her.

Where do you see yourself on the forums?

Organising loads of brilliant meets and being the best area rep ever. Lol. :icon_wink:

Where can we meet you?

At a meet in Kent, London, Norfolk…….who knows where else I might pop up…..? :scared-eek:

One thing about getting old that's good is that my mid life crisis attracted me to buy the "poor mans Ferrari" :handgestures-thumbupleft: :icon-biggrin:

Poor mans Ferrari, or clever mans Ferrari? Same sexy coupe looks, much less £££s to buy and run.

Also, in a Hyundai you don't look like:
a) you have too much money
b) you're a flash tw*t
c) every other driver calls you a w*nker
d) you have a tiny willy

I sometimes refer to my car as my MLC car (Mid Life Crisis) :icon-lol: . I know a lot of my friends think I'm a bit mad but another good thing about getting older is that I couldn't care less what anybody else thinks about it. :icon-biggrin:

Each to their own Dave, I bet you can swim? I can't, and I'm terrified of it - I'm utterly convinced that I'll just sink and die....

FYI - chips are not a 'garnish', they are part of the meal. If you eat proper food that is....
