When I passed my test I got insurance for midnight that night, and then drove 120 miles to Norwich and back the morning after :P

Things have changed my friend :( insurance Is looking to set me back 2 and a half G's! Which isn't too bad, my friend is insured on a stock civic 2ltr for 5 grand! Its amazing how much premiums vary :confusion-shrug: Im thinking of going to Adrian Flux, I hear they are pretty good. There is no way i'm going black box insurance, if I cant drive my car without being constantly monitored then I can't be trusted, which just assumes that all young drivers are a liability. Granted quite a few of them are, I know a guy who turned his fiesta upside down into a ditch. He then bought a mazda Rx-8! Thats just one example that I can think of for high premiums. Good news is, in one year It decreases to £600  role on the NCB! I still realise i have so little experience that driving on the road is still "new" to me. I've booked my IAM course and also skidpan training, the latter mostly for fun but it will be useful in the long run!

Was only a few years ago ;) my first year of insurance was £2.8k with a black box, but ended up only paying around £2k out of it from the black box discounts for not driving like a maniac :P
