Hi, Adz here from London, currently between cars and really liking the look of a 2003~ gen coupe 2.7 V6! Thought I'd sign up to find more about the car as well as get to know the community if/when I get one :) :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hello mate you need to research the v6 very carefully as they suffer from a well known failure of the bottom end. Do your homework and plenty of good ones very cheap

Welcome to HCOC!
As said, be careful if you're fancying a V6, but I've seen some really nice ones for decent money lately, so shop around.

Imagine the stationary burnouts in traffic queues though :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You win - can't argue with that logic, although I'm with Jeremy Clarkson on the pollution thing - it's not going to make a jot of difference in our lifetime, so I say enjoy the V6 soundtrack.
You forgot the price of road tax too.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

I'm aware the 2.7 V6 will drink in London but I do about 2.5k miles a year if that, so I figured why not settle for a smooth sounding V6 whilst I'm young and have no real commitments eh?

When it comes to unleashing the power in London traffic, that's partly why I want a V6, not for the power, but for the torque. If the name doesn't give it away I'm a bit of a Honda nut but having to rev it out to 6k just to move anywhere isn't fun in London, whereas a nice dollop of torque at the low-mid range is ideal :)

Any general tips of what to look out for?

Adz

you say you only do 2.5K a year how long is your normal journey ? is it long enough to get your car warmed up to temp? also a straight 4 has very similar power to a V6 hyundai for the difference in engine there isnt much of an increase of power surpirsingly, take a look on auto trader for some facts or parkers too

I'd do 2.5k a year in the Hyundai because I have access to other cars in the household if needs be, but if I were to commute in the Hyundai my commute is 6 miles either way, but because it's London that's like 45 mins so it'd be warmed up. I'll have a look at the 2.0 as I really just want one for the looks and a decent driving experience, my civic was hardcore and I really just want a nice place to be and a nice car to look at!
