Hello from Thatcham from potential owner.
Hello from Thatcham from potential owner.
I've agreed to buy a 52 2.0 se which I'm hoping to collect tomorrow or Tuesday.
It's a bit ruff around the edges, but it's cheap. This will be my first non nissan so will be an interesting experience.
Plan is to get the important stuff sorted (like the broken interior door handle and a good service) the worry about anything else after. It has a broken sunroof mechanism (it works but the wind deflector mechanism is broken) and give it a dam good clean.
So here's hoping I find it an enjoyable experience.

Re: Hello from Thatcham from potential owner.
Thanks
I collected the car last week, I'm on a budget and this just popped up local and reasonably priced so I thought why not. I always look for a decent forum and this seemed to be the best once for the coupe.
It's no show winner but I'd like to try and get it up together a bit. Unfortunately I had planned to try and change the cam belt, what I hadn't banked on was buying a pair of tyres (didn't spot the bulge in the side wall) so that's smarting a bit.

So plan tomorrow is to go collect a replacement door handle from Hyundai in Basingstoke, hopefully collect some part warn Goodyear tyres, get them fitted, then if time allows and the parts arrive change the cam belt, oil and filters.
Air con could do with a top up, I need to try and figure out if there is a good reason why I have no alarm fob as using a key is a small pain.

Re: Hello from Thatcham from potential owner.
That looks tidy enough.
You'll have no fobs because the alarm's garbage - it'll be the Scorpion one.
Look on the bulkhead at the passenger side, if you see a black metal D shaped box - that's it, more bother than they're worth.

Re: Hello from Thatcham from potential owner.
Yes get used to the key. If it has a scorpion your better off without it. Some people chucked the fob to save removing the alarm. Your immobiliser still works

Re: Hello from Thatcham from potential owner.
OK thanks for letting me know about that, I'll not waste my time.
Got two new Yokahama's on the front now, also got a Contitech cam belt kit so that's Sunday's task. Also going to change the oil and filter while I'm at it.
