As a side topic of this thread, I once spent most of the day scrambling about under my Granada changing a clutch. So rushing to get it all put back together to go to a party that evening I skipped a few of my usual OCD'ish checks.
Great got it all back together and everything hooked up mid afternoon...start it up to back off the ramps...loud rattle, bit like an old football supporters one and no movement at all. Oh gosh I said to myself I must have fluffed putting something back.
So back underneath and off with the gearbox again...turned out the drive plate center was not attached to anything.
Moral of the story...check new parts fully before fitting no matter how rushed you is. I went to the party as a grease monkey in an evening dress eventually
