My name is Diane, I have a 1999 Coupe SE - only just. It's on it's last legs (deemed uneconomical to repair by a reputable garage). When I bought it about 6 years ago, I had a ancient Vauxhall Cavalier that had just peacefully passed away in its sleep, and I was looking for a Toyota Celica, but there was nothing affordable that was half decent. I needed a car in a hurry so went to aforementioned garage and asked what they had for under £1000. They had just one, the Hyundai Coupe. I had heard of Hyundai but thought they were boring middle-aged people's cars. Although I am actually boring and middle-aged, I don't want to look it. Without even seeing the car, I said I'd have to have it. Then I went for a test drive, and wondered where it had been all my life. It's cute, sporty, yet just big enough to be practical (during recent house renovations, I transported a full sized bath home from Screwfix - and the hatch back even closed down).
Alas, all good things must come to an end and my little Coupe has developed terminal problems, so I thought I'd go back to the original plan and buy a Celica, found a cheap but ok one last Sunday. It's a good, reliable car, and I like it, but not as much as I like the Hyundai Coupe. I fear I have been spoiled for any other type now. Already I have guiltily been loitering on Autotrader, just in case the Hyundai of my dreams is out there .....
