Hopefully a new owner
Hi all,
I've always wanted a coupe, and nearly bought one, but ended up getting a crossfire instead.
I'm going to sell the XF and hopefully buy a coupe as a run-about for a year or two while saving up for my next car.
I do all the mechanics myself, and intend to get a 2L <2005 to keep the costs on tax down, but also intend to try and get the best MPG out of it. But we'll see. As long as I save money, thats fine.

welcome to the club mate. I'll tell you now what will happen...
you will have the coupe whilst saving up for another car, and then you will spend your savings on another coupe. They are addictive and infectious, like herpes but harder to part with.

Prepare to be smitten by the lure of the Coupe, they are like the Greek mythology Sirens
People should really stop expecting normal from me... It's never going to happen

Yup the coupe ain't a car you get for a few years. I thought I would at first but now I want it forever. Look at it all the time. Get giddy like a school girl behind the wheel.

Have to admit i keep asking myself WHY i like my coupe so much.
It just gets under your skin and stays there

If the Chrysler crossfire XF drives like the SLK 230 (basically same thing) then i'd go for a coupe ...and i wish i'd have test driven a coupe before i got the hairdressers car years ago to be honest!
Still it was a fun 6 months trying to keep the thing in a straight line when it was wet and you need to turn (even slightly)... you'd think it'd be ok with all that metal roof folded up over the rear axle but no ... it worked with a concrete slab in the boot of a 2.8 capri !!!

Ahhhhhhhhh, Crossfire XF. I thought you had a Crossfire and was referring to a Jaguar XF hahahaha. I used to be a huge fan of the Crossfire and thought about getting one when I had the money, so you wouldn't recommend it?Snake wrote:If the Chrysler crossfire XF drives like the SLK 230 (basically same thing) then i'd go for a coupe ...and i wish i'd have test driven a coupe before i got the hairdressers car years ago to be honest!

Re: Hopefully a new owner
Guys, the Crossfire quality is second to none. Most solid car I've owned. Merc parts, built by Karmann in Germany. It doesn't go wrong. Very easy to work on.
I drove an SLK320 and they do not drive the same at all. The only thing I will say about the Crossfire is the steering is a bit vague, but only in comparison to more nimble cars like the MG TF or Toyota MR2. It feels the same as every other large sports-car I've ever driven.
I would of course recommend the Crossfire to anyone. It's what I'd call a practical two seater. Big boot, very comfy and good power on tap. Providing you get rid of the restrictive merc enforced air intake system, designed to lower the available power to ensure it did not surpass the 320.

Re: Hopefully a new owner
Having never driven a crossfire i can't comment and i shall take your word for that mate ... i did presume that the quality would be there, even the slk does have a solid quality feel to it i must admit .. which you would expect from a german car in all honestyjames.venn wrote: I drove an SLK320 and they do not drive the same at all.
