SIII Engine being Dismantled

Some may be aware that a blown head gasket has created a need to replace my cylinder head. After some looking around, it became easier and more cost effective to purchase an entire engine. The result is I now have a complete replacement G4GC SIII engine, 43k miles and fully working. The head is called for of course and I've also removed the ignition rail to replace my LPG version. The rest is up for grabs and I'll be dismantling over the next week, so let me know which bits you want.

I'm not asking for offers as that's against the rules, so just let me know which bits you want and I'll figure out a price, depending on how much interest I get. I'm not looking for make loads of money here, just get a little back from the price of the engine.

To confirm, parts available:

Intake manifold
Throttle body
Clutch and flywheel
Alternator
Ignition system, coils, leads etc.
Fuel rail
Bottom end and sump
Rocker cover
Oil cap
All pulleys and belts (although I doubt anyone wants a 2nd hand belt)
Water pump

Anything I missed?

I would prefer not having to dismantle too much as it's a working engine so the parts are more valuable when they function.

If you helps you keep the costs down for some of the heavy items (and therefore attract more buyers) CollectPlus only charge £8.39 for upto 10kg. Includes tracking and insurance up to £50, and can be bought directly through eBay post-sale tooling.

For even heavier items (upto 30kg) you can also buy Parcelforce48 through Paypal for £11.99.

Thanks for the advice on postage. I've just gone with eBay's default postage pricing and I consider any over-charge to be factored into whatever the final selling price will be. I know the comparison sites give different options and I didn't want to complicate it. Also, I wouldn't touch Hermes (who are typically the cheapest) with a 50 foot pole, due to how they like to leave packages out in the rain and claim to have delivered items, only to actually deliver them a few days later without an apology. Awful service.

I removed the other listings as I only had interest in the air con compressor. As the only bid has it at 99p, I don't think this is the way to auction these. I'll let this one end, but I'm going to keep the rest as spare components.

You've just missed out on all those people who, like me, bid in the closing moments!

For a 99p auction? It's just not worth it. These are all parts that people replace immediately when they fail. I had hoped there are a few looking to grab a part at a bargain to stick on the shelf until they need it. Unfortunately, I underestimated demand, so I'd rather keep them on my shelf for when I need them, or sell them for a fixed fee.

It sounds like I was exactly your target market - I am always on the lookout for bargain spares for 'just in case' moments or testing.

Well I still have the alternator and coil pack (with leads). £50 for both with postage seems about right. Let me know if you're interested.

I'll soon have another intake manifold and throttle body for the same enigne. I plan to be refurbishing these prior to sale. I'm considering polishing out the throttle body intake as this made a nice improvement to my current intake. I'd like a gauage of interest on this as the refurbishment will include sand-blasting, with is going to cost, so let me know.

It was your 99p starting prices that hooked my interest... :icon-biggrin:

Quite right too! :icon-lol: You ought to start your auctions at a higher starting price (the minimum you'd sell for) as you might only get one person willing to buy at any one time. To get those that absolutely must have it yesterday a healthy buy-it-now price can pay dividends too.
