Weird Windscreen Wipers
Strange thing happened today, my passenger windscreen wiper just stopped working on the passenger side, so now I've only got one working windscreen wiper on the front screen! Anyone heard of this odd problem before?

Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Check the wiper spindle for a loose nut or a stripped grip thread, if everything looks OK remove the plastic scuttle and start checking the wheelbox and linkage arms.

Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Very common lately from the FB page users. If as Rod says the arm is tightly bolted down then it's the little linage ball joint that has given up. Most spares shops, eBay or Halfords carry a U shaped spring clip that can be popped on to repair it if it's that. It does not have to state it's specifically for a Hyundai Coupe as most are universal.

Oh dear, it looks like the whole car is going to have to be taken apart to get to it, the threaded bit is not rotating...yikes!

Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Take the scuttle off, the arms can pop off under tension.

Handful of plastic clips after taking the wiper arms off, lift gently and wiggle it back to revel the wiper mechanism etc. You can see the holes where the clips go.

Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Ok I now know what's wrong with this wiper, it's little plastic circular plug things with a retractable bit. The only thing is the hole is not threaded so must be glued, is that correct (if anyone understands what on earth I'm talking about)
Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Right I'm going to have to sell or scrap the coupe as I can't find the clip that's needed to fit the windscreen wiper, I've been to every car parts place in Reading including Hyundai dealership. I give up!

Can you get a complete wiper mechanism from ebay rather than sell the coupe?HotBlackCoupe wrote:Right I'm going to have to sell or scrap the coupe as I can't find the clip that's needed to fit the windscreen wiper, I've been to every car parts place in Reading including Hyundai dealership. Oh and I'm sure the woman from Hyundai Reading will thank you for redirecting me elsewhere as I was just about to throttle her when she gawped me blankly.

Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Sadly this fix is proving practically impossible as the clip doesn't seem to fit so my poor long suffering mechanic is looking at it tonight. Do these clips come in different sizes? The one that was delivered seems too small but I wasn't given a choice at the point of order
Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Also when I phoned Eurocarparts to see if they had a larger clip they suggested I upgrade my wipers costing £396 (but that is inclusive of VAT, so ok then)

Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
I had this happen on a MK1 Honda Legend I used to own, because the car was so old and so rare I could not get the parts to replace it so I fixed it by using a strong rubber band around the linkage bars, it was strong enough to keep them together and flexible enough to allow for the continual movement needed. Only downside was I had to replace it every 6 months as the rubber would start to rot and it would eventually break.

Re: Weird Windscreen Wipers
Did you get a clip like I linked as the flat bit fits under the arm and the other bit on top
Search YouTube to see how they fit Donna
